How a Heat Pump Water Heater Works

Traditional electric water heaters rely entirely on direct resistance heating, consuming 1 kW of electricity to generate just 1 kW of thermal energy.
A modern heat pump heater operates on an advanced refrigeration cycle:

  1. Extracts Free Heat: The system draws free thermal energy from the ambient outdoor air (even in cold weather).
  2. Compresses & Upgrades Heat: A high-efficiency compressor warms the refrigerant to high temperatures.
  3. Transfers Heat to Water: The energy transfers cleanly into your water tank through a heat exchanger.
